Alexandra Rankin, LPC, M.Ed

“I believe in people’s inherent ability to change and grow, but I know that we sometimes need to look very carefully in order to find the catalyst for change. In the therapy room, we will work together to find that catalyst. As a therapist, my style is both directive and warm. I like to strike a balance between order and flexibility; our sessions will have purpose and direction while also being relaxed. I believe in the healing power of humor, music, art, and learning, so these elements may show up in our sessions. We will work together to set goals, solve problems, and maybe even have a little fun.”

Alexandra received her Master’s Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University with a CACREP accredited counseling program. She completed her residency in private practice to earn the title of Licensed Professional Counselor, a designation that requires 3500 hours of post-graduate supervised experience, followed by a rigorous state board exam, and ongoing continued education.

Specialities include: OCD, PTSD, ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Relationship Issues, Spouses or loved ones of those with Substance Abuse, Postpartum Depression/Anxiety, Self-esteem and Identity issues, Christian Counseling, Spiritual Abuse recovery

In her free time, Alexandra enjoys cross-country horseback riding, strength training, trying all the restaurants in RVA, and spending time with her husband, son, and her teeny-tiny dogs.
